The Flip Flop Wallet is a versatile bifold wallet pattern that includes all of the options. Make a sleek plain wallet with a vinyl or denim back, or a fancy one with a contrast strap. Choose magnet wings for a clever closure that doesn’t distract from your feature fabric, or choose a simple elastic band for a no magnet, no frills option. This basic wallet is great for teens, men, and women because it allows you to customize each component. Make it for a right or left-handed person, choose two sets of card slots instead of an ID pocket, or choose a coin/key pocket if you live somewhere that uses coins as much as cash, or if you want to travel light and carry a single key. This is a sister (or brother!) wallet to Get Carded, as it is similar in size but features the frequently requested flat cash pocket. While there is no wristlet strap, the closure options will keep it from flopping open in a handbag.
As usual, this Dog Under My Desk pattern is like having a printed class. With 165+ photos, you will never be left guessing what to do in any step. Learn how to fold card slots, how to install magnetic snaps flawlessly, how to install prong magnets, and perform a nifty little trick at the end that allows you to assemble this wallet while it is flat. All of the bulk is contained in the self-binding on either edge of the pockets (please note, there is no actual binding in this pattern, it is all a design feature and the wallet is completely finished and lined) so you do not need to turn and topstitch through a double layer of card slots. With the right needle, this wallet can be made on ANY domestic sewing machine.
A lot of time has been put into presenting what you might see as an overwhelming number of options as clearly as possible. (Thank you, best testers ever!) Simply choose your options and refer to the sections that apply to your choices. Everything is laid out in order, so while you may be skipping sections, you won’t be skipping *around* the pattern. While it makes for a longer pattern overall, we simply didn’t want to leave anyone out! Even with over a dozen possible combinations, this is not a wallet to be intimidated by, as it is actually a very fast and easy sew!
